Re: Steering coupler (Rag Joint) size

Get rid of it and put in an XJ shaft.

Re: Steering coupler (Rag Joint) size

Pretty much a bolt in, like $20 for a junkyard shaft. You need to make a slight notch at the steering col end for the bolt. You also need to compress the shaft slightly to install. If you google it you can most likely find more info. I did mine in under an hour, outside in the winter, very popular with the 4WD guys.

Re: Steering coupler (Rag Joint) size

It gets rid of the sloppy rag joint. If you click the link you can see the XJ shaft, solid couplers at each end. That thread is very informative, but a bit overcomplicated. You get a little more road feel transmitted through the solid shaft, but I have been happy with mine, plus it is a cheap and easy mod.

Re: Steering coupler (Rag Joint) size

Wonder if this could be used for a manual steer box?

Re: Steering coupler (Rag Joint) size

I would think so, as long as the ends are the same size as the p/s set up.
