Engine Break In

Ok, so I've really been trying to give my new crate motor a proper break in. Have I went out and tried to push the pedal through the floor even though the paperwork said to avoid it? Sure I have, just a few times though.

I'm probably in to the motor about 300 miles or so now, so a little over 1/2 way through the recommended 500 mile break in time. What I'm wondering is, I really want to use the truck to pull my 18' car hauler trailer and go get a short wheel base frame that I found. All I'll have is the weight of the trailer plus the bare frame.

I checked my trailer hookup today and everything seems like it'll work ok, so I'll have lights. I do not have any brakes hooked up for this truck though, but shouldn't really need them with basically an empty trailer. I'm just worried if I'd actually hurt a darn thing doing it during this supposedly critical break in time.

What's everyone's .02 on the matter.
