core support mounting bushings?
Can you use the core support bushings and mounting hardware from a 69-72 Chevy on a 68 Chevy/GMC? the parts books show there are two different sets. Just wondered if they would interchange.

Re: core support mounting bushings?
nope, the 68 still uses the ones from earlier trucks, like the 65 on thru 68, i believe.

Re: core support mounting bushings?
What did it use for bushings? Did you tear it down? Do you have the old bushings?

Re: core support mounting bushings?
it had the 69-72 bushings and hardware on it, but they were in bad shape. I am going with a dual headlight core support from a 68 GMC.

Re: core support mounting bushings?
If it is going on your 71 frame use the 69-72 bushings

Re: core support mounting bushings?
i would use the one's made for that frame, as i have a 71 truck on a 67 frame and i used the 71 mounts and my body lines were off so i went with the thiner 67 mounts and ok

Re: core support mounting bushings?
So, what you guys are saying is......it isn't really the core support that makes it different, it is actually the frame itself. I didn't know the frame was different on the 67/68 vs. the 69-72's. your saying use the the 69-72 bushings since the frame is a '71.???

Re: core support mounting bushings?
You are correct. The holes are sized different on the frame brackets. The supports themselves are the same.

If you can squeeze(torque) the factory mount down to 3/4" you should be good to go, hav'nt tried that yet
