I am looking for a good set of heads for my 327 i am building but i dont know much of what to look for, any ideas?

The later model (1996-2000) chevy vortec haeds are hard to beat for the money.

I agree with the above on the vortecs, but remember that it takes a different intake manifold which is generally more expensive. And with the cash for clunker program the vortecs heads have become harder to find. Depends on how much your willing to spend and what kind of performance you're after. There are a lot of good aftermarket heads, there are good older original heads but they will need work, like hardened exhaust valve seats, a valve job (which is not cheap anymore) and if you find small chamber heads for higher compression, you might want to have them ground for larger valves so there is that cost plus the new valves. You can spend a lot on heads if you want, and that is where most of the hp potential is found.

By the time you rework stock heads you might be able to find a good set of aftermarket heads. How much do you want to spend and do you want to go aluminum or CI. I have a set of ported World S/Rs on my 388 with the 1.94 and 1.5 valves that are around 170cc runner volume and they have some very impressive flow numbers and the low end torque is amazing with the 170cc runners and the upper limit is 5700. These heads were very cheap because they were overlooked and poo pooed as boring lack luster heads...So don't overlook stuff because someone says it "bad"
