Electrical class 101!?!?!

Hey guys. I recently found a starter button (2 post) in my garage and I plan on installing it in my blazer instead of the regular ignition ie. Key method. Have any of you guys installed one and what wires/switches will need to be hooked up. The truck is running a mechanical fuel pump

Thanks
Andrew

Re: Electrical class 101!?!?!

Are you going to keep the stock ignition switch in the dash? It also depends on whether you have an automatic(neutral safety switch) or manual transmission. In either case you will use the purple coming off the back of the ignition switch to go to one side of the starter and I think the Pink. I'll have to do some testing to see if it will work like that. You might even get away with just the purple and a ground.

Problem is the on and off function of the ignition switch. Part of it is on, part of it is cranking. If you remove it, you'll have to still complete the ckt somehow.
