American Racing OR Boss???

I need some help on deciding what I should get. I really like the look of American Racing torq thrust M (black) but Boss 338 (black) almost look exactly the same!
I don't know what is the better rim but I like them both I'm kinda looking for the least expensive choice & i need some help deciding and some advise on the specs or anything you have to tell me so please what's the better way?
I'm thinking 18X8 infront & 20X10 in back

my vote is for the Boss wheels, like the look a little better myself, and I think they are a little cheaper

Re: American Racing OR Boss???

I have owned a few sets of AR rims and absolutely detest them. Usually after about 1-2 years or so I lose the first layer of chrome and shortly the second layer.

Re: American Racing OR Boss???

Well...

These wheels will require either modication, or different rotors to fit. Other than that, break out the reading glasses.

give us the skinny on any and all issues with the boss wheels if you're running them, may have some shattered dreams or be looking to a different style wheel altogether

Wow, I see why you didn't just try andlet us in on the issue, there are so many, and all depending on application, parts used, etc. I would find another rim or go with the american racing wheels, the Boss wheels are definitely nice but by the time you do all the mods to make them work, not worth it to me good luck on your choice

I kind of agree... they are a killer wheel and look great on this era of trucks, but the manufacturer seems to continue putting a kink in the release of the new wheel.

Re: American Racing OR Boss???

Boss are great looking but you will have to modify your rotors. Plus I would only buy a set you know someone has is stock. If you buy some that have to be ordered you may never get them. Other than that they are great wheels. I've been loving the set on my '91.

Re: American Racing OR Boss???

I personally just don't like the look of the TT-M's I'm not comfortable with a wheels that requires modification to make it fit.

Why not look at Coys with the black spokes?

Re: American Racing OR Boss???

The only mod i had to do is grind the rotor, which i did myself with an air grinder. Took like 10-15 minutes a side. Bolts right on. If you have air ride, and depending on what size wheels/tires you go with, you might need spacers for the rear. I considered the Coys but For the sizes I have, 20x8.5 and 20x10, they would of run $1200.00 without tires and without shipping. I paid a total of $1250.00 with tires and shipping for my Boss 338's. So i would gladly grind my rotors to save $500.00 any day. The choice is ultimately up to you.

Re: American Racing OR Boss???

DZL1 - If memory serves me right you got the newest revision correct? For those that are considering them, the -3 revision only requires a little grinding. The older version require turning the rotors. Just don't want someone to get confused on the whole deal with the fitment. The new caps do snap right on. That's correct.
