Distributor Cam Lube Pad/Wick

I'm tuning up my points-type distributor and noticed the cam lube pad in the distributor is missing. It didn't come with the new points set, either. I found one online but would rather not order it. Does anyone know if the chain stores sell this?

This is what I'm talking about...

Thanks in advance.

Yeah, sure, I was hoping for a part number, though.

Re: Distributor Cam Lube Pad/Wick

No need for the harsh attitude, nbpro.

Part of the reason I enjoy these forums is the camaraderie and sharing of knowledge. I posted the above question late last night after looking at all the chain store websites and they do not list a part or a part number. I've found it is always faster/easier to get parts at these stores with part numbers.

If anyone else could throw some advice/part numbers my way, I'd really appreciate your kindness.

Re: Distributor Cam Lube Pad/Wick

i may come across as being harsh but i assure you i didnt mean it that way as far as the part number im pretty sure your local stores arent even going to know what youre talking about ive had so much bad luck with those people its unreal most of the time i have to take the part in so they know what im talking about but everything ive run across on line is for the corvette and once again there was no attitude intended and good luck on your search

Re: Distributor Cam Lube Pad/Wick

No hard feelings, nb. Thanks for taking the time to respond. These pads used to come with the points set back when purchased at the parts stores back in the day. I've definitely had some "tough search situations" of my own at the auto parts chains, and that is why I always prefer to take a part number and have it handy.

I tried a few places, even the dealer, but they either have no idea what I'm talking about or they said they "think" they don't have it. Apparently this little item is not as crucial as it used to be. New points sets are sold without it.

Thanks again.
