Dual horns, How do I tell if they work?

I found another set of dual horns today and nabbed them. I brought them home and tried to "bench" test them but could not get the High note horn to work. So I thought I would dig up a previous set I found some time ago and again the High note would not work. Which leads me to think that something is not right with the way I did it. I tried several times and several different ways always able to get the regular note horns to work but not the High note horns. Can they both be bad? Is it easy to "burn" one up? I was getting ready to sell the sets but now I am unsure. Help!

I have sprayed WD-40 inside of dead horns before, and they worked fine after that.

Make sure you have two good clean point of contacts on the horn - pos/neg. You can do a continuity check from teminal to horn shell and make sure it is not open. If it is, the coil is burnt. Will not work... Like mentioned above, they get clogged up too.

How do you check the continuity? I recently bought a dual horn set up (high not and low note horns with harness) and they don't sound. My single horn works great but if I hook up either of these they will not honk. If I connect one with my horn. My horn sounds but the new one will not. If I unhook mine and just connect the two new ones - they will not sound.

I bought them from a forum member who indicated they worked before he shipped them. Any suggestions or tricks for me to try to get these working?

I always just hooked up a plus and minus to the horns to see if they beep
