It's never easy !

Hey ,yea its been a while ,hope all you cool cats are doing good. So after driving my truck around this summer I decided it was time to do some work on her.
So today I decided to split my brake lines and swap in a dual master cylinder , yea still have NOT done my disc brake swap and no Chief still haven't swaped the rear end this recesion bites. Of course it was hot, that should have been the first sign that things would not go well.
I removed my old master no prob added a M/P plate to cover up the extra hole ( 60-62 manuals used a hydraulic clutch and a dual master with 3 bolt holes) drilled the extra 3/8 hole all cake so far.
I knew I would have to mod the push rod so I took it out set it aside to deal with it at a later time.Bench bleed the master all good. Mount it to the firewall and notice I will need a fitting that points down to clear my clutch master cylinder no biggie I'll hit up Royal Brass in the A.M.
Jack up the truck locate the "T" fitting soaked it with WD40. After a few I place the flare nut wrench on the rear feed line and .............. yup its a no go !I could not get it to budge . Ok what ever I'll just remove the front lines off the "T" and add a cupler to them and feed the rear thru the "T" with a new line an plug. That one dosn't lossen either.
So yes there is a question in this rant: What should I do? any tips on getting (and saving) the rear line lose? Replace all the lines and t's? Man this was suposed to be so easy, but it never is

Re: It's never easy !

There's a tread about penetrating oils and how WD40 just doesn't cut it. It goes on to state that a 50/50 mix of aetone and transmission fluid works the best. Loctite has a penetrating oil that freezes the fastener with -45 degree gas. Works the opposite of a torch.

My Dad told me a story that he got from an old timer about how they would urinate on a fastener. Seems the body heat would work it's magic then the urine would seep it's way into the joint after a day or so. Tell me if it works for you then I'll try it.

Re: It's never easy !

I've had really good luck mixing the PB and WD-40. Normally on old and stuck brake lines though I'll cut the lines as close to the fittings as possible. Then I can use a socket and bench vise to take them apart. Slide the fittings back on the line and put a new double flare on the line. Good to go. A double flaring set is fairly cheap (my local non-chain parts house sells a Lysle set for about $35), as is a hand tubing bender to help make the new lines you would need anyway. I just got really tired of soaking and waiting like you are, then soaking and waiting some more, trying to be extra careful, then just breaking the lines anyway. After switching my methods my projects like this got a lot shorter and much cleaner. Just my .02

Re: It's never easy !

Well a little heat and off it came. I used part of the old clutch pushrod and an MP push rod for the brake push rod giving me the extra 1-1.5 inch I needed . Now I just need to fab up the rear brake line ( boooooo) and blead it then it should be good to go , or stop
