Re: Np203

One way to know if the truck hasn’t been converted is by the fact the truck will not move if the hubs are Unlocked. At least that is the way my ’78 K10 was when I first got it. It did not have the part time kit but did have lockouts. It would not move until the hubs were locked in.

The 205’s didn’t use a support rod like the newer aluminum cases did. The bosses in the 205 are old left over castings from when they did use a small bracket that attached to the frame on earlier trucks. I think ’69-’72. Eventually, GM quit using the side bracket as it was not needed on the 205.

Well…… yes, no, sorta, kinda, not really??

Both split power and both have Neutral and low range but that I about where the commonalities end.

Operationally, they both work basically the same if a 203 has a part time kit.

Re: Np203

thanks; it seems to be as the hubs are undone and the front drive shaft spins

Re: Np203

Then it has been converted to "part-time" with a kit.
