OEM radio speaker ?

Hello all,

What size was the original speaker in the dash of a '70 truck. Mine had been stripped of the speaker and what ever bracket it may have had. How did the factory do it? Pictures welcome.

Thanks,
Toby

They are a 4x10 rectangular speaker. Here's a thread that talked about them: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...cement+speaker

Re: OEM radio speaker ?

FWIW, there are dual speakers that fit the OEM bracketry, and the dash. It's an appealing idea, but I'm not sold on the quality of the audio.

That's one thing I love about this board. Members are steeped in knowledge and quick to respond. THE BEST ! !

Thanks,

Toby

P.S. I don't have any of that. Thinking about fabbing a bracket for a 6x9 dual voice coil.

Re: OEM radio speaker ?

Hey Leon,

Those pictures are super! Does the speaker mount to the top of the radio and not the dash itself? CRAZY!

Thanks again to all.

Re: OEM radio speaker ?

Speaker mounts to the upper side of the dash. He just has it sitting on top of the radio in the pic.

None of mine have bolted to the dash. Just the bracket that bolts to the firewall...

Re: OEM radio speaker ?

If you have an original radio.look here for the right speaker,as some aftermarket speakers may damage your radio. http://www.turnswitch.com/speakers.htm
