72 4x4 suburban with an LQ9
has anyone here installed a 6.0 liter in a suburban? I'm kind of worried about the clearance between the stock LQ9 oil pan and the front drive shaft. I will be installing a suspension lift so I know that will give me a little more room, but I'm worried that if and when the front U joint fails it will take my oil pan with it. I'm looking for some suggestions on how on how to gain more clearance. Any ideas/input would be greatly appreciated.

I will be installing one in a 85 burb. I am pretty sure the drive shaft location is about the same. If the front joint fails it will take out the factory pan on a old school sbc.

In all my years of four wheeling, I never saw anyone gernade a front driveshaft...it was always a rear.
Could you not make a small skid plate for the pan area or a driveshaft hoop for the front like the pullers use?
