Whats this plug with a bracket on for?

I am pretty sure that is the low pressure switch. It will turn on the red "brake" light on that's in the dash cluster.

It is a pressure differential switch. As long as there is pressure in both brake circuits the internal pin inside the proportioning valve is centered and floats, a loss of fluid in one of the circuits will move the pin to ground completing the circuit and making your brake light come on as Jon said. It is just a warning that there is a leak in the system
