quick question about rear shock spacer

Howdy folks,

Been a while since I actually took my 69 2wd c10 coil rear truck apart and I'm putting the rear suspension back in. The new shocks came with a 3/4 to 1 inch wide spacer and it doesn't look like I need it but I can't remember if there was a spacer on it from the factory. Is it included because the shock is also used on a different application or is it supplied as a problem solver etc? Thanks for any insight!

hmmmm, does anyone have a trailing arm suspension truck and could just check for me real quick? the spacer looks like a really fat washer with a slight taper on one edge. These shocks also list for for gm truck applications up until the early 90s so maybe it is used for spacing on a 4wd model or something.

what exactly are you asking us to check?

does the shock fit without it? if so, roll with it.

i just wanted to know if the spacer supplied with the shock was necessary. I don't remember taking one off and now that i bolted it up i don't think it is necessary. I was just wondering if there was a reason it was supplied since sometimes when you buy service parts they come with hardware that fixes a factory problem, such as the front shocks coming with the stud that bolts in the frame instead of using the factory style bolt through the shock and frame that tends to come loose and egg out the bolt hole in the frame. Thanks for replying, i think i have it figured out.
