New buckets from Russia with Love
Traversing the local junkyard for a set of seats for my truck as well as other stuff and I stumbled across a pair of seats in the most unusual vehicle for this area (central Pennsylvania). Built in 1987 in USSR according to the VIN tag. Badged as a Lancia. Crazy. No clue what model it was. Going back there to get pics later.
For now, pics of the drivers seat installed. Some welding was required to create a bracket for the rear. ![]() ![]() [img] |

Re: New buckets from Russia with Love
I always though of a Lancia as the original Italian front wheel drive sportscar, and the Russian car as the Lada.

Re: New buckets from Russia with Love
This thing was weird, it actually looked like a 60's land rover, but it had a lancia steering wheel and some other stuff with the lancia name on it. Entirely possible that someone just put that stuff on there. I want to go back and get some picks and try to figure it out. I love a challenge.

Re: New buckets from Russia with Love
I remember reading about them, back in "the day". I can't believe that they were imported in quantity, but some were evidently allowed into the US. Heck, it could have come via Canada (probably did, huh?). US emissions testing and crash testing is more than some companies want to endure just to sell a few vehicles.

Re: New buckets from Russia with Love
Either way, it looks like a good fit. It took me looking into six junkyards and a a few hundred cars before I found gray buckets without excessive wear or tears. You did well.
