i guess i have to make one for my 61. i just got a spal fan 2470 cfm. its cooling it just not cooling good. its running 180 and then going down the road it jumps around from 180 to 210. so why does the fan go up high on the rad?? and if anyone has made a electric fan shroud help would be great right now.

Summit Racing has fairly cheap aluminum shrouds for electric fans.

Re: hows any one made electric fan shroud??

So does Jegs. They are slightly different sizes than summits so one may work better than the other for you. Speedway has some universal ones too. You may be able to get a local HVAC or metal working shop in your area that has a brake to make one for you. then you could just cut out the hole for your electric fan. I just got a Jegs universal aluminum radiator and their kit that came with the shroud and fan. Seems pretty nice so far.

Re: hows any one made electric fan shroud??

you would probably need to use a sheet metal brake to make one yourself so you can flare it out on all four sides so it doesn't sit tight against the rad. measure the core of your radiator and see if one of the universal ones can be adapted to fit.

well,as long as its as close to the radiator core as you can get and the fan diameter is the biggest you can get on the radiator core,it should work well.also if its running constant or the thermostatic switch is not the "right" temp range, you will have cooling issues.

speaking from experience.

Nothing real fancy, but it should be functional. May have to cut some bypass holes so it will flow going down the road. My engine is moved forward, so I didn't have much room to work with.

Re: hows any one made electric fan shroud??

yep. Recycled a piece of bed frame or 1"x1" angle welded togather with four holes in each corner and then a piece of 24"x24" galvinized steel folded on the sides 1/2" to make a shallow pan then cut the hole and self tap screwed fan to it then tack weld the shroud to the frame.

Here's mine. Aluminum with 2 12'' fans. I went with 2 so they would be offset from the waterpump pulley.
