C/10 and Custom/10
This may be a stupid question, but what is the difference between a truck with the label C/10 and one that says Custom/10?

Re: C/10 and Custom/10
I'm sure someone will chime in. Custom on some of the trucks are interior/ and exterior difference in apperance packages. Interior ie: door panels (metal versus the deluxe panel) Exterior ie: Standard chrome/black painted strips versus the woodgrain strips. Even some models chrome notched cover over the tailgate handle. Some packages included the tinted windows with chrome vent divider bars. Some included woodgrain glovebox. All depending on which packages was purchased when ordered.
Welcome to the board.

Re: C/10 and Custom/10
I'm not for sure but the C-10 has nothing to do with options other than it's a light duty 2 wheel drive truck frame.
Custom is a option Designation for what was ordered on the truck. Colors, and power options.

Re: C/10 and Custom/10
C-10 was the base model, Custom-10 was the next step up and the CST was top of the line. The base vehicle was available with just about any of the trim items that were available in the upper lines, but ordering the Custom Comfort and Appearance Package (Custom/10) got you those items without having to spec each one out. The CST included all of the Custom Comfort and Appearance Package items, and added a few more. Wood grain on the dash and glove box door, wood grain on the lower trim and across the trim on the tailgate in lieu of the black paint and so forth. Also, a C-10/C-20/C-30 were basic. The Custom Comfort and Appearance package could be had on the 10, 20 and 30 series, as well as the CST package. Likewise, a K-series could also be trimmed out with basic or Custom or CST trim levels.

Re: C/10 and Custom/10
For 69-70 C-10 was the base package, Custom-10 was an appearence package
For 71-72 Custom-10 was the base package, Custom Deluxe-10 replaced the Custom-10 from 69-70.

Re: C/10 and Custom/10
The wood Grain trim was 71-72 only...I Think. The CST option ended in 1970 and was replaced with the super cheyenne option. Although some 71 trucks on the SPID label (located on the glove box door) will say CST option verses the super cheyenne.

Re: C/10 and Custom/10

All 67-72 1/2t 2wd Chevys are C/10s.As far as fender badges identifying which trim level was opted,67/68s don't tell you a thing. All badges are a bowtie with a 10 under it and if it was a Custom or CST the badge is on the door. But,a base model would be known as a C/10.In 69/70 the fender badges were C/10 for base model,Custom/10 for medium level, and CST/10 for top of the line.In 71/72 the base level changed to Custom/10 and the fender badge reflected that change. The Custom Deluxe/10 was the medium level, then Cheyenne/10 as well as a fourth level added as the Cheyenne Super. Although a base model truck could have a loaded option list,it would never have the bright work around the cab glass. The medium level could never have a headliner.Only the top of the line 69-72s could have the tailgate band and the top of the lines never had the lower tailgate trim. There are a slew of other details, but those are some of the most obvious clues as to origins of a particular truck.

Re: C/10 and Custom/10
Tim said it perfect, any trim level could have any options. You could order a 72 Custom/10 with a/c, tilt, tach, air, big block, automatic, buckets, etc but you would not get trim around the windows, etc. On the other hand, you could order a cheyenne super with nothing. Trim level has no real bearing on options, it is simply an appearence package.

Re: C/10 and Custom/10
Look on the inside of your glove box door. If it still has the SPID Label it will list your trucks options. Good Luck.

Re: C/10 and Custom/10
That would be a base model. If the glovebox door is missing the SPID only knowledge of what was and wasn't an option will tell. And,you won't know what was changed over the years.
Some basic options found on base trucks include: AM radio Gauges...the small ones across the bottom Front stabilizer bar Power Steering or power brakes Step bumper or any rear bumper All these were options. It's rare to see a truck with no options at all.Your '72 is either a CE(V8) or CS(I6) model. The 307 would be the base V8 and the 250 would be the base I6.Anything else would be listed as an option. The standard transmission was the column shift 3spd manual.

Re: C/10 and Custom/10
Right, and the best thing to go by is the VIN because I have no idea what is up with my truck. The spid says it had a 350, then the VIN said it had an inline 6. These trucks have been around so long that it's really hard to tell what is and isn't original through previous owners.
