Gas pedal help 55-59
Hi All,
While cleaning out my parts bin I found these pieces below. I know one is a gas pedal, and I assume the other is some kind of linkage for the carb. My question is, did these come out of a 55-59 and if so how hard would it be to use them now? Meaning, what am I missing from them? Thanks, Sam |

Re: Gas pedal help 55-59
I don't think that came from a 55-59. I am pretty sure they all have the pedal that is pinned at the bottom and pushes on a rod straight through the floor to the linkage. Mine is just the rod sticking out of the floor, haven't installed the new pedal yet.

Re: Gas pedal help 55-59
The botom came out of my cab which is a 58/59, the other one came with my truck which is a 56 but it was so hacked up when I got it who know's what it came from originally
Looks like it might be easier to get an aftermarket set up with a cable |

Re: Gas pedal help 55-59
Yeah, I am pretty sure that gas pedal and linkage is not from a 55-59. I just pulled the original linkage assembly from my truck (58) and I don't like the way it was engineered, so I am going with the cable setup.

I think the cable set up is the best way to go. I'll probably order one in the near future.

Re: Gas pedal help 55-59
Look at a mid 70's truck pedal. It mounts on the firewall and is cable. I used a 57 chevy auto one for mine that has a pivot mount that fits in the stamped recess on the curved part of the firewall.
Here are some crappy photos (cropped from other photos) that show the general idea. Simple and uncluttered in my mind.
