Is a 1 row rad enough

I've got a stock 75 350 in my 68, the radiator has a few holes in it so I got a new one at oreilly's, According to their website is was a 3 row, but when I brought it home turns out it's only a 1 row. There's currently not a thermostat in the engine, but I was planning on getting one after I installed the rad what temp range should I get? The radiator I have in the truck now is 2" thick, I'm not sure exactly how to count the rows but the new one is only 1 1/4". Anyway I live in southeast Tx and out summers are usually upper 90's to lower 100's. I wont be doing much driving in heavy traffic but I might be doing some light towing. Thanks for the help yall!

I went and looked at their website again and it was actually labeled twice, when you look at it in a group with all the radiators on the same page it's listed as a 1 row but when you click on it it's listed as a 3 row, anyway I'm just gonna take it back tomorrow and get the right one.

Re: Is a 1 row rad enough

My truck when I got it had a 1 row on it. I still haven't had any overheating problems with it, despite a record hot summer and two weeks over 100.

Re: Is a 1 row rad enough

Is it a aluminum radiator or copper/brass ....if its aluminum 1 or 2 large rows is normal and will cool equal to or better than the copper/brass which has 3 or 4 smaller rows.

I just put a aluminum radiator in my daily driver with air cond and the replacement part was a aluminum radiator w/1 large row ....overall its thinner than the copper/ brass 3 row original but it cools a Yota V6 at 100 degrees with the air on high.

But if its not what you want none of that matters ....take the advise of the above post and take it back....................Rushnbobo............................

I work for Oreilly's and it is not uncommon for the box to be misnumbered or the wrong part in in the right box. Your post kinda made it seem like they gave him the wrong one on purpose, I doubt that's the case.

I agree it was not uncommon to find the wrong part in a box when I worked at both Auto Zone and O'Reilly's. Human error is possible at any place, unfortunately.

Here is just a sampling of what happened when I worked at O'Reilly's. A customer came in to get some spark plugs and wanted me to set the gap on them, something I would do when asked to. I opened the first box and found a used spark plug, all the 8 plugs in the box turned out to be old ones that had been returned. This is just one story of many that I have about working retail.

I am sure you will not have a problem returning the radiator and getting the correct one.
