Re: frame swap ?

doing any kind of swap is a huge project! Most people use s10 frames because of the wheel base that is the same as the AD trucks. S10s also have alot more aftermarket suspension upgrades and v8 kits. There are also a couple of companies that make complete swap kits that practically just bolt on.. If you decide to use the dakota frame, look at the entire shape and height of the frame compared to the stock frame. Do ALOT of measurements first! Make sure the wheel base is correct (unless you want to extend/shorten the frame).. Measure the track width, you can always go out 1-3 inchs but its hard to go in.. decide where you are going to place each mount and if it will work in that location. If you decide to use a sbc you will need to make motor mounts also. If you have any more questions let me know! Hopefully we can hear from someone that has done the swap

Re: frame swap ?

well i dont whant to use a s-10 frame it to narow for a 1957
but i mesure a dakota frame and for the exterior size of the tires is 67.5
and my 1957 now with original frame as 70 inch so that will be ok because it will be low .

and a 1990 c-10 mesure 73.5 so that is to wide .

so i have 3 choice
camaro clip
mustang crossmenber
dakota frame

from my research camaro clip is ok
mustang is ok
dakota frame is ok for the size

and for the wheel base it dont matter for me because it will have a pro street rear end .

Re: frame swap ?

I had one and decided against it and went S10. Its a good candidate with rack and pinion and can handle the weight, but parts are higher and you have that goofy small 6 lug bolt pattern. Better plan on having custom wheels built unless there's a conversion.

Re: frame swap ?

thanks for the link Pop's C-10 but its not a 1957 chevy maybe there is a problem compare to the 1951 ???

but for the 6 lug well i know that 1988 it was 5 lugs so just have to change the spindle rotor to have 5 lugs
