Re: Look whos number one:)

That really fell into the No S**t Sherlock category. The GMC/Chevy is number 1, the Ford is number 2. In all honesty there shouldn't be any other truck even close in the best trucks category.

It would have been nice if they ranked the body styles overall instead of lumping the C series in one whole group and the F series in another. The difference between a 1963 F100 Unibody and a 2010 F150 is pretty obvious.

To me the 73-87 C series to me is the best truck of all time. The fact that the bodystyle was in production for 14 years (I guess longer if you count the Suburbans) is nothing short of incredible. The closest thing would be the Ford F series from 1974 to 1979 and they felt the need to change that style during that time. The C series remained comperable and competent for a much longer time and it is amazing how many of these old trucks remain on the road.

I've been a Ford man for most of my life. I own three vintage Ford cars, a 1965 Fairlane Sports Coupe and two early 60's Ford Thunderbirds. But the best truck of all time, at least to me, will always be the 70's vintage C series trucks. I've owned three of them and this last one will be the one my son drives. If he can get it away from me.

I completely agree with WKLINK. You cant sump all of the c/k series chevy trucks into one category. For one is the straight front axle they phased out after 87 (I hate IFS).

I think the all time best looking truck was the 67-72 trucks but the 73-87 trucks can look just as great. The value is incredible since its a awesomely engineered truck with good styling and the parts are old and common enough to be cheap and available but not obsolete yet.

some of fords "better idea's" have became obsolete the same year they were built. one of them great Ideas is the 7 bolt lug pattron even ford lost intrest in that after a year.

19 years of prodution time if that dosent say they where great then what does? after 16 years of prodution time people still wanted them so they went on for 3 more years

A tired warrior of the 1980s in a world of low profile tires, front wheel drive, and plastic bumpers, where people stay in their houses until snowplows move the offending substance from their paths, too helpless to travel without AAA and chains and salt, clearing their windows with longhandled brushes while gently stepping around in the snow trying to stay nice and dry.

Re: Look whos number one:)

Not in anyway poking fun at anyone here, but I gotta ask: Who does research when they write these articles. It says "coil spring rear suspension, first offered in 1967".

Well I guess all of us 60-66 guys with coil spring rear suspensions are halucinating. Well it was the 60's... maybe too much LSD?

Seems like a little fact checking would go a long way. Being rated #1 by these dork's doesn't really mean much, now does it?

Ford still uses it to this day on the heavier-duty (7700lb GVW) F150s.

Really? You see a 19 year production run as a thing of pride?

In reality what it shows is General Motors made a ton of money by not redesigning. Let's be honest here, loyal GM truck buyers would never have thought about buying a Ford or a Dodge, thus they had a "captive" market.
