Project: Bloody Knuckles ('55 Buick Special)

Well I've had this car since July 3, 2009, when a good friend of mine found it in a barn close to where I live. The story was that the previous owner had pulled it in to fix the left fender and never finished. It was last tagged in '86 and he said that was the last time it had been started also. I went to check it out and just fell in love and had to have it. So I get it home and I just know that I'll get it running. First thing, I check if it'll turn over...it didn't. So I try everything that I've ever heard to free a motor. Just a bunch of bloody knuckles (hence the project name) and no luck getting it to spin over. So I just put it aside and figure I'll get to it when I can. Not too long after I got the '55 I came across this '53 that was last parked in 1968. So I drag it home and pull the old 322 out. I didn't try to start it, but I guarantee that it'll start right up (with a little work). (The story on it was that the lady that owned it died in '68 and no one ever messed with it. It had been sitting out side under some trees this whole time, and it was sunk down to the floor boards.)
Now that I'm looking for something to drive while I redo my '68, I decided to try and get the Buick on the road.

Heres a pic of it at my buddies house (with my lovely wife) and some when I first got it to my house. Sorry for the craptastic photos.

And some better pic of the '55 and you can see the fender that the PO started on. I was listening to tradio radio and a guy had these white walls to give away. So I figured if it's going to set there, at least it'll sit there in style!

A few pics my wife took.

I know this pic doesn't have the Buick in it. I just thought it was a cool pic of my little girl, but maybe one day she'll be behind the wheel of the Buick.

The dash on the 53 is awesome. Just about everything on the 55 is awesome.
401 with 2 fours in the 55 would be sweet
Cute kid!

Re: Project: Bloody Knuckles ('55 Buick Special)

Thrill of the year is Buick! Thanks guys! The '55 is my favorite year of Buick. I have plans for what I want to do with It in the long run, but for right now I would like to just get it on the road. So I can drive it to work and back. I'm going to clean this motor up and drop it in and hope that the dynaflow trans is alright. Heres a pic of the dirty motor.

Re: Project: Bloody Knuckles ('55 Buick Special)

Thanks guys for all the comments. You make a guy want to go out there and work on the Buick, but I've been way to busy with work and I'm doing a complete for my dad and that's taking all of my extra time...what time I have.
