Re: Gauge cluster with tach and vac

My biggest concern is that the vacuum gauge looks cock eyed in there. Could you possibly take a pic dead on the vacuum gauge for me? Thanks Ryan.

Re: Gauge cluster with tach and vac

Let me do some research and see what the gauge should read while not hooked up. I'm guessing that gauge may not be any good but IDK.

Re: Gauge cluster with tach and vac

How is the printed circuit board any burn spots tears ect. Has the tach been tested and does it work. This would really help you move this cluster if you had this info.

Thanks PT

Re: Gauge cluster with tach and vac

I think the reason is that the back of the vacuum gauge has that funny brass bendable tube (kind of like a party blow toy). I think that when the gauge was set down on the carpet, it may have moved, in turn moving the needle. I am guessing this because the first photos show the needle pointing to around '0'
I could be wrong, but that's my guess.

Re: Gauge cluster with tach and vac

72_Longhorn, what's the back of that gauge look like? My vacuum is an aftermarket...the only one I could not find in NOS. Anyway, the aftermarket looks just like a long exhaust manifold nut. I have had some Air gauges in the past, and that is what I was thinking earlier when I described it as looking like a 'party blow toy'. Is the OEM GM like what I mentioned in an earlier post--being like a 'party blow toy' or is it like the aftermarket long exhaust manifold nut? BTW, glad to hear yours pegged back down to '0' I'd be all over this if I hadn't overspent this past month...make that this past year

6 or 8 cylinder? Almost looks like a 6 on the back, but can't quite tell.
