What is this opening/lever for?
Hi guys,
I noticed today on both drivers and passengers side, there is this door handle type lever. If I pull on it, a "door" for lack of a better word, opens. What in the world is this?

It lets fresh air in the cab while driving.

Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs. |

Re: What is this opening/lever for?
it's essentially a passive-air vent setup. At 0mph, there's not much effect. But at 90 (yes, been there, done that ) there's all kinds of air pushing through there into the cab. Works like my heater used to before the heater switch got replaced.

I use mine when I want my cab filled with leaf litter.

Re: What is this opening/lever for?
i use mine to cool off my flux capacitor when i start to approach 80mph, they tend to heat up when used too often
but really their like a cheap mans a/c my dads mack b60 has those as the cab will reach 100+ when towing or hauling

Re: What is this opening/lever for?
...is our age showing?
I gotta remember that there are young people on this site. I never had a vehicle with air conditioning until '79. For that matter, neither did my house. My school bus doesn't have it and therefore I drive my '96 GMC w/o using the AC unless the bride is riding. But, those vents and vent windows were what made it possible to cruise through western Texas in the summer of '69 in my '64 Bonneville ragtop w/o AC. Yeah, it was hot....but, it was a DRY heat.....lots and lots of dry heat.
