Re: wheelbase

The 9 foot box would be a 3800 series only and the WB on that is 135".

Is the box actually on the 3600 now, or are you saying you would have to cut it first? The reason I am asking is that the 9 foot is pretty scarce. You might be able to sell it, buy a short box, and come out cash ahead, or maybe do a trade + cash.

Re: wheelbase

ok when i baught my truck (dump bed ) i baught a long box from a friend of the seller and the seller ship me the truck and bed on the top of my dump truck ,
but when i received it from reno nevada i notice that it was not the long box that i whanted it was a very long box that it doesn fit in my wheelbase of 125 inch ( 3600 ).

to instal that box i need to cut it to a standard long box .125 wb

but if i need to cut that one so maybe i will cut it to a short box but yes i will have to cut the frame also .

but yes if i can sell it back to buy a nice short box well that will be good for me

Re: wheelbase

i just find that in 1957 it had 2 size of long bed
89 and 97 inchs
so are they on the same 123.25 wheelbase ???

MAR-K
Some information about 1957 Chevy models...A stepside bed has fenders attached outside the metal bed sides and a step extending from the rear fender to the back of the cab.
Short Stepside: Length of bed wood 77 1/8". Inside width of bed 50”.
Cameo: Has the same size inner bed as a short stepside, but has fiberglass outer bed side panels attached which makes the truck look like a later model fleetside truck. Tailgate is also different than a stepside or fleetside. Length of bed wood 77 1/8".
Long Stepside 89": Length of bed wood 89”. Inside width of bed 50”.
Long Stepside 97": Length of bed wood 97”. Inside width of bed 50”.
1 Ton Stepside: Length of bed wood 107 1/4”. Inside width of bed 50”.

Re: wheelbase

There is no 89 inch box.

Measure your box inside and tell me what you have. Front panel to tailgate along the side panel.

Its either a 6.5', 8', or a 9'
6.5' (78-1/8") on a 114" wheel base 1/2 ton only
8' (98") on a 123.25" wheel base 1/2 ton long bed or 3/4 ton
9' (108") on a 135" wheel base 1 ton only

Re: wheelbase

i know it the length of the wood but WHY they sale 4 DIFERENTE size of WOOD

stepside or fleetside. Length of bed wood 77 1/8".
Long Stepside 89": Length of bed wood 89”.
Long Stepside 97": Length of bed wood 97”.
1 Ton Stepside: Length of bed wood 107 1/4”.

The box that i have doesnt fit my 125 wb truck i have a 9 foot box so i whant to buy another one or cut the one i have .

but i still what to learn about those box because in 1955/56/57 it supossed to be 89 inch for the wood and 1958/59 its 97 inch ??

So a have a wheel base of 125 on my 1957 3600 truck so what size of bed that i need for my truck (i dont whant to buy the wrong one again so i need the exact specs ..

Is their guys that have a Long box with 89 inch wood ???

or everybody as the 97 inch wood ???

thanks

Re: wheelbase

Im going to check how difficult it is to cut my 9 foot box to a 89 ou 97 wood box to fit my 125 wheelbase .

or i do a major cut on my 9 foot box to do a short box with it , and cut the frame to 114 wb .

i start to like this style (for sure my truck will be flat black )

it will be to tow my Fiat that will be Flat black next week also

Re: wheelbase

Thats a 57-3600 with 123.25" wheel base and would have an 8ft bed.

I see what you mean about the two long beds for 57. Not sure whay they have it that way. There may have been a 3rd bed in 57 but if your shortening it to 114 WB then you need a 6.5' bed anyway which is their short step wood.

Re: wheelbase

No groceries for me im always at the restaurants

Next week i will put my 1957 in the garage and look if i cut the FRAME to have 114 wb .

or i keep the whell base to 123.25 inchs

but there is more room in a 8ft compare to a 6.5 ft Box to put Racing part

But i think the truck is nicer with a 6.5 box

The long step 57 is a split year. Early models had an 89" bed. Later models had a 97" bed.
Hope that helps.
