Heater or AC resistor photo

1969 C-10, 350, with ac. Found this dangling near the firewall on the passengers side.

Is this the "remains" of my heater resistor? The fan powers up and down when I manipulate the fan control switch. The AC did not work when purchased from the PO.

Anybody got a pic of "what it supposed" to look like??

Thanks...Rick

Re: Heater or AC resistor photo

I just replaced my AC resistor and every other switch needed for AC and heater. I saw npthing that looked like that or even looked close. Maybe the PO put the wrong part in. The resistor should have two holes for mounting on the plate.?

Re: Heater or AC resistor photo

Don't have a pic, but like the previous post there's two screws that hold it in and the part will have a coil between two "posts". That coil is the resistor. What you're holding looks like a switch. Which switch? Don't know, but you can bet someone will....

Re: Heater or AC resistor photo

Here are two more pics. Any idea as to what this is, or was? When I get home this evening, I'm gonna trace the wires down.

Thanks...Rick

Re: Heater or AC resistor photo

Since I don't have a glove box light I didn't even think along that line. It makes sense, considering where you found it. There is a hole on the upper left corner of the opening. Is that where the switch goes? If so, where does the light mount? But, I think KEL is on the right track.

Re: Heater or AC resistor photo

I'll check as soon as I get home. The glove box light does make sense. I was browsing online and saw that the item is a plunger type of switch. The size matches, but I need to see about the wire colors.

Thanks for the help....you all are GREAT!

Re: Heater or AC resistor photo

I can't see the pics at work, but there is an A/C switch that goes on the back of the plenum to turn your compressor on and off. If its a glove box light, the wires will be orange and white. If its the A/C it'll be different colors. I think they were green and possibly light blue? You can look at the color coded schematics in the electrical section to be sure.

When I converted my truck to AC from non-AC I got all the stuff of a junk AC truck. Like red71cheyenne states, there is another switch hidden on the back of the AC stuff. There is a push button that is operated by a cam that I'm sorry it has been too long since I did it but it gets turned on by something else turning that cam to push in a button to turn on the compressor. That thing in the picture looks like somebody backyarded a cotter pin into a switch.

Again I apologize about not having better details but there is another "hidden" switch on the AC system in our turcks.

Re: Heater or AC resistor photo

You got it!!!! Now...where does it go and which "lever" activates it? Hopefully, the remaining body for the switch is still mounted where it belongs.

Man...this restoration stuff is hard!!

It goes behind the plenum. The A/C-Heater lever activates it via a cam on the back. I'll try to find a pic of it in the assembly manual.

Re: Heater or AC resistor photo

AWSOME!!!! Got home and checked the ac/heater unit. There it was. The carcas of the old ac compressor switch still screwed on the unit.

You guys are fantastic! Thanks a million! Gonna order one today.
