90 Sub Dash
Hey guys , just started to tear into the dash on my 90 suburban . Its been a few years since I tore into a older truck but I can't believe all the crap they put into the later model old body style .
I had to take out the column to put in a stick set of pedals ... I know most of the stuff in the dash ... Still want to eliminate anything I am not going to need . The Cruise is going . Any one know what the box to the right of the brake that has a flasher near the cruise box is for ? Also a box that sits under the radio ? Since I am going with a stick I have to decide what to do with the arm on the column ... maybe a fuel shut off lever for the cummins . Any one have any ideas for other columns for these trucks ? Older vette tilt / tel ? I also have to change speedo's out since I am going cummins and back to the basics ... either a autometer with a pulse generator and thats great because you can program to the tire sizes . I'm just kicking stuff around and input would be great ! Thanks greg |

Re: 90 Sub Dash
The box that is under the radio (maybe it's white, IIRC) is the DRAC module. The output of the DRAC module goes to the electric speedometer.
edit- if you are going to be using a \n electric speedometer anyhow, you can run the input directly to the pin on the cluster, and use your existing gauges. You might need to change teh signal, depending on pulses per mile, but it would look original.

Re: 90 Sub Dash
Problem might be finding a pulse generator to connect to my dodge 205 ...I know autometer makes 7/8 18 thread I think it is plus the revs per mile is adjustable . I like a mechanical gauge for my temps ..especially for my cummins .
By the time I am done the only original gauge would be the fuel level and if I am going that far I'll do that one also . |
