Brake Help!
Hey fellas I am in the middle of a restoration on my 70 swb chev and I have run into a head scratcher on the front and rear brakes. The fronts are disc and the rears are drums. The problem is that the lug pattern is 5 x 4.75 and the fronts are one piece where the rotor and hub are one. I am trying to figure out what they came off of. The numbers are 366296 or 963993 its kinda hard to read part numbers when rust exist. The rotors are also 1.125 thikness. Any help is appreciated.

I think what red70 is curious about is why his truck has a 5x4.75" pattern rather than the 5x5" pattern that is the factory truck pattern for these trucks. Sounds like someone did an interesting swap. Definately not factory since these trucks didn't switch to front disc 'til 1971. If I was in your position red70, I think I would go to my favorite small time auto parts store (the type of place where the people behind the counter actually know what they are talking about) and ask them to cross reference the numbers that you have. good luck!

A PO probably put on one one the conversion kits that use bearing adapters to use full size passenger car rotors. They had/have 5x4.75 pattern.

on cars and trucks of the era the front rotors were riveted onto the hubs from the factory.. when rotors got worn and couldnt b resurfaced the rivits were drilled out and replacement rotors were installed with no need of using the rivits as they were just used as an assembly line aid
no idea what the original application was maybe impala

If your rotors are about 12" diameter they could be from a C3 Vette or a 69-70 Impala. These take the right size bearings, but I am not certain if the offset is correct for the truck calipers.
Your rear end could be out of a car. A pic might help identify it. The above assumes that neither the front or rear has been re-drilled, which should be easy enough to check. Ray Last edited by raycow; 10-28-2010 at 01:32 PM. |

One of the numbers on one of the spindles is LH 26-6274238 I hope this helps with some info
