Blazer rear hatch rattle

The rear hatch, on my 72 K5, has something rattling inside. It really gets noisy on rough roads. I think it is the internal mechanical parts. Does anyone have recommendations on how to address?
Thanks in advance.

If it is just the rods that go from the latch to the outter latche's you can spray expanding foam in and it will help......That's what i did....Just my 2 cents

Thanks

Hey French, thanks for the recommendation. I believe it is probably the rods. I was thinking about trying to stuff some insulation in the hatch. The expanding type sounds much easier.
Thanks again.

WHen that stuff sets up will it hinder the operation of the rods? Or do you work the latch while it's setting up? I need all new rubber on my top. And a new hatch for that matter. WHo makes the new one US body?

Try moving the brackets on the outer walls of the hardtop to the forward position and then tighten them so that the rear gate closes tighter and you hear the second notch latch. If you put foam tape or new seals it also helps as well. If it takes an effort to make it click twice when you close it, it usually makes it a lot quieter.
