is it kosher to ask an approx value of my truck
I was wondering if it was cool to see what fellow board members think my truck is worth. I'm not interested in selling it I am just making sure I didn't get ripped off when I bought it.

Re: is it kosher to ask an approx value of my truck
well it has a little rust on the rear cab supports and the drivers side floor has a couple holes.... which i know is really easy to fix. i'm working on painting it thats the primer which was the first attempt i think i might sand it down and start over with a glossy black and debating on chrome accents or keep it ghosted in with black

Well, this is really close to a WIW thread. Which is not permitted by you as a non-subscriber.
In my opinion it doesn't matter if you got ripped off. Or didn't get ripped off. You already own it. So will anyones thoughts make a difference?

What did you pay for it? It looks like a pretty decent start. And fine69 is correct, try not to let it turn into a what's it worth post. Lets see some more pics as you progress.

Re: is it kosher to ask an approx value of my truck
Whats under the hood?
Does it drive okay w/o major issues? Like braking, steering and engine/tranny issues? If so then I would have to say you have one helluva deal! Yes body condition is another factor for determining but with you described you have a good platform to build from. Good luck and Welcome to the board!

Re: is it kosher to ask an approx value of my truck
it runs good once warm... i think ive got to work out the choke due to hard cold starts but once warm it starts like a champ. the brakes are in good condition up front it has new rear lines in rear but i haven't checked them yet. The tranny shifts pretty nice to what i've read and the engine pulls pretty strong... no problem leaving tire tracks. The only thing i want to replace mechanically right away is the shocks they bounce pretty nicely.

Re: is it kosher to ask an approx value of my truck
Sounds like you did ok on the deal. Mine is a 68 long bed with a 350/th400 that i gave 500 for. sold some junk that was in the back of it when i got it. Put a hei dist in it and bought some primer to start off with. took of some stick on chrome molding sanded and primered where that was. One bed side needs a bit of work. Not bad if you are 10 feet away though. could use a rocker and cab corner but good solid and running. Will try and see ifin i can post a few pics later. I would trade for yours pretty quick just so i could get the 4 speed.

Re: is it kosher to ask an approx value of my truck
$500 sounds like you stole it from the PO in my opinion. There is not much to know about a $500-$1000 vehicle. Does it run? Then it's worth the money you are paying for it almost no matter what vehicle year IMHO.
Since it looks in great shape (compared to some hold super rusted out starts on this forum) There are some extremely clean/nice/lifted/bagged/convertible/etc vehicles on this forum that had waaay worse starts than you and are Friggin slick. What have you done to it lately and what are your plans?

Re: is it kosher to ask an approx value of my truck
i currently have just rebuilt the qjet due to a bad float and leaky accelerator pump? i am planning on getting a hei dist for it to replace the points since they need to be changed. but i've got it running it actually fired right up after sitting since september i just had to pump the gas a couple times. i've also replaced the mufflers with glasspacks because the po had two different mufflers on there and it was weird having two different sounds.
I need to seal the raingutter as i think thats the reason for 95% of the rust that my truck does have. because after the snow started to melt finally!!! after like 3 weeks i can see it drip out of the dash onto the floor and having the big rubber mat with the jute and all that padding just held the water but its only got a couple holes in the floor. i just gotta learn to weld or find another way to fix the floor. but other than that its about ready to paint for me right now. i'm just going to do a rustoleum roll on job till i can get a shop and do a frame off. would it be better to sand it down to bare metal and start there or cover up what i have currently? on a side note i love having a granny gear its great to go up in the canyon and play around on the rough sections and being able to just walk over small rocks without giving it gas or having to work the clutch. although the downside is ive basically got a 3spd as 1st is totally useless on the street.
