4 speed help

So i am swaping out the automatic transmission for a 4 speed. The truck was once a 4 speed so the install is going well. I got all the original parts off a donor truck but have hit a snag. The rod connecting the pedal to the z-bar does not line up. It seems like the piece coming off the pedal assembly where the rod hooks needs to move over about an inch or two so that the rod will be able to travel through the hole and connect to the z bar. Any ideas why this may be?
Thanks

Re: 4 speed help

The obvious question first. Was the donor truck the same year as yours? If yes, would it help any if you flip the arm over where it clamps to the shaft?

Can you flip-flop the rod? Everything else should be in its spot.

No it was a 67 and a 2wd. Does that make a difference?

The rod is the same on both ends.

Is the rod straight or does it have a bend in it? Kind of like a little s-curve. At the end where it connects to the z-bar, there should be that kink to get it to line up with it.
