Possible wheel choices

Well I'm looking into wheels and I really want the Boss 338's but I came across these locally and like them as well, all cost around the same, and looks to be the same for modification to install them, just looking into opinions on them, the 338's are also backordered until spring, not even producing more until then. My plans for the truck are to drop it 5.5/7, convert to a stepside, and go with Lemans blue metallic hot rod flatz satin paint.

Re: Possible wheel choices

If you can get the first and don't want to wait - do that. I ordered my 338 in Sept and got them 5 weeks later from HID solutions. So you may want to check with him.

You really can't go wrong either way.

Good Luck!

Re: Possible wheel choices

I ordered mine from HID solutions as well and didnt wait that long, guess I was one of the lucky ones. As far as which wheel to go with, I obviously am biased to the 338's but i like the second wheel from the pics you posted.

Re: Possible wheel choices

eck
sorry don't like..
the 2nd look like mustang wheel(americcan racing d)
and the first with the double line..
I'd like to see steel wheels in 18-20" that you can snap a dog dish on..
just to keep um, guesss'n
or a bbs wheel like on big red(69 camaro) in those sizes..
the old school wheel types with the big by huge holes, just doesn't look right..
by my opinion is just that my opinion..
and doesn't really mean a thing if you like it, go for it..
now 18-20 rally's in steel, with the nove flat center cap and thin trim ring..

Re: Possible wheel choices

Between the two I'd go for the first ones they are nice and different everyone seems to be going with the same look as the second, So why be like everyone else. Just my opinion Go with what you want its your truck. Myself I don't care for big & facy wheels Im a plain and simple rally wheel guy. I like to light up the tires now and then so If I am going to Smoke the tires right off I rather have some inexpensive tires. Go for it I say the first ones.........

Re: Possible wheel choices

You wanted opinions, so here's mine. I don't like the ribbed wheels(1st pic). They look ok in that pic, but I've seen a few in person, and just don't care for them. Not to mention, they look like they would be a real PITA to clean between those ribs.

I kinda like the second wheels. I think they would look just as good as the 338's if you didn't want to wait.

Now, my question for you is this: Are you ready for wheels/tires yet? If you're in the process of building the truck, you may have time to wait for the 338's if that what you're really wanting.

I like the plans you have, especially the stepper bed. I think it's gonna look really good the way you have planned.

Wait for the 338's.... but my second choice would be the first wheel, you just dont see them that often.

Re: Possible wheel choices

Cool, I was hopin for some answers when I got up today, I am currently at the frame painting stage, but my grands slam kit arrives friday, I have 4 days off and need to make it a roller to get my cab off the driveway before the snow flies so that is why I'm somewhat rushing. I like the big steel idea you mentioned, the problem is with the dodge 20inch spares up here the cost to get them is as high(wreckers) higher(dealer) and they don't come filled, not into spending that kind of time on a wheel set myself, as I have so much left to do in my build itself. I think the 338's are definitely worth waiting for then as they require the least grinding, cost a little less, and I never did consider cleaning on the first ones, not a fun task, and the way our roads are up here, I would have my hands full everytime it leaves the garage. Now it's between going 20's or 18's all around, probably the 20's just due to the extra height/clearance I'll get and with my drop and the roads here, I'll need it, shoulda went with a 3.5/5 drop on account of the worst potholes/frost heaves in Canada. Thanks for he replies, any input on tire sizes etc and thoughts on the wheels is still appreciated

I suggest you research your tire choices before deciding on wheel size. I just helped a forum member with this on a set of 18/20's. When we were done he was pleased, but still feels he would have been better off with 20's all around.

WHO MAKES 20 INCH RALLIES???

Also go with used billet wheels. The 338 are soon if not already played out. Billet wheels due to their cost never seem to get old! My.02$
