700r4 trans throttle body valve sticking

Can I just drop the pan, clean the valve, flush the radiator and its good to go? or do I have to pay my local trans shop 60 bucks to quote "clean and hone it"? It was recently rebuilt and its still not shifting properly and is leaking all over the place. Im getting sick of dealing with the guys that rebuilt it so I want to do it myself or have it done right but I don't have the money to just go to a shop and say "fix all the problems'...

Adjusting the throttle cable changes the shift points if that helps. What problems are you having ? When they rebuilt my 700r4 they added some kind of lubricant to keep the valve from sticking. Try flooring the gas pedal real hard with truck off a few times. Some times that will free it up, ( per the tranny shop )

Re: 700r4 trans throttle body valve sticking

We worked with the cable and that didn't solve it. (thought it might because it was shifting too high and it did help but didn't solve it) I'll try pumping it and flushing the radiator before I take the pan off, but I still need to find the leak which bugs me. The fluid also seems to be shooting out the release valve on top even when its not over filled, is it true that it will do that because of the pressure building up when the throttle body valve doesn't open properly?

The trans shop I use recommends GM posi-trac friction modifier additive for that. It's available at GM dealers. Loosens up all the sticky valves.

Re: 700r4 trans throttle body valve sticking

Tim, I just snapped your in McKinney. "The Transmission Shop" at 15th and North Central Expressway rebuilt my tranny. Highly recommended. Great job. Run away fast from "Eagle Transmission" . I had to be flatbedded from Centerville back to Plano after they resealed my tranny and forgot the snap ring on the front seal. Tranny was never the same after that. Thats when I took it to The Transmission Shop.
