1967 68 GMC front bumpers

After looking at quite a few pics it seems that most of the painted 67/68 GMC front bumpers don't have the notch for the marker lights, but the chrome front bumpers do (My 67 GMC has a notched chrome). Is this factory, or have the chromes been replaced with later year bumpers with the notches? Any GMC experts have info. on this? I though all GMC bumpers had the notches until a member mentioned they did not and I started looking at pics of original trucks. Thanks, Sharpie

I "think" the notches started in 69. Not sure if there was a difference in chrome to painted for a start time...

Re: 1967 68 GMC front bumpers

I believe all the 67/68 GMC bumpers did not have that notch. That's what I had always gathered...could be wrong.I always wondered why they weren't.They're partially blocked without the notch.

One of those funny 67-72 "glitches" I always figured someone had put a Chevy bumper on when I saw a 67/68 with no notches. Sharpie

Re: 1967 68 GMC front bumpers

I had a very original 67 gmc a couple years ago that had a chrome bumper on it and didn't have the notch in it. Tim actually bought the fenders off it

X2, When I bought my 67 GMC (the toad) I figured some one had changed it early in it's career, but i couldn't understand why because I couldn't fine any damage at all and the bumper looked like it had been there it's whole life, however I have to admit I like the chrome with the notches better.

Yours was one of the pictures I checked. Great looking truck. I agree on the chrome with notches. Sharpie

Re: 1967 68 GMC front bumpers

I'm putting the notched bumper on my '67.The parking/turn lamps partly "hide" behind the original style.

as far as I know, and have ever seen, 67/68 used a non cut bumper, chrome or painted.
