Back up light switch/tranny help PLEASE
I can't find a replacement for my back up light switch. I've looked everywhere. Here are some pics. Can someone help me find a replacement? I have an 250 L6 with a three on the tree manual tranny. From what I can tell the tranny is the original but I don't know what kind it is. The only ID I can find on it is on the back side and upside down. It reads 12345 and above it 67890.

What year truck is that from? I looked at RockAuto catalog and all 67-72 for 250ci have 4 prongs that work back up lights and neutral safety switch. You might try the 4 prong switch and use only the two prongs for BU lights. It should work.

The 4 prong one is for an automatic column and won't fit on a 3 speed column.

Re: Back up light switch/tranny help PLEASE
Ill go ahead and let you know that i searched for months for that switch and no one makes it. What i did was got several used broken ones, took em apart and cleaned em up. Took 3 broken ones and made 1 good one. Take it apart clean the copper connections with fine sandpaper, re grease it and put it back together. Yours looks in pretty good condition really...
Oh and geezer is correct, you cant use the '4 prong' switch with your column. The 4 prong is for auto columns and wont even bolt in. The 2 prong will work with any transmission that is shifted via the column. |
