350 Motor Swap w/ 4 speed manual tranny
Alright everyone I have a dilemma with my 72 Chevy C-10. I recenty pulled a 350 from a 70 GMC that I went through and got in good running condition. I then pulled my worn out 250 inline six from my 72 and dropped the 350 into place. Everything fit like a glove except for the clutch linkages. The 350 came from a pickup with an automatic so I bought the clutch ball that bolts to the side of the motor but when I put the exhaust on its in the way and theres no room for the clutch linkage set up.
Has anyone else ran into this problem when doing a swap like this?? The way it looks to me is if a get an exhaust manifold off a 4 wheel drive that drops straight down i would have enough clearance but I'm not sure. (the manifold i have on now angles down and back) If anyone has any info please let me know Thanks |

rams horns that go straight down ( some call them vette rams horns) is what worked on mine.

A little more info would help.....I am guessing that you set the sb in on the I 6 frame stands? And are you trying to use the stock I 6 clutch linkage?

Yea thats correct 69 longhorn. I did use the frame stands from the inline six. Also all the linkages that I have are from the inline six. I'm not sure how all the linkages are going to work, I'm assuming they might need a lil tweeking as well. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I swapped from v6 (sits back like yours) to 350 with i6 stands and a four speed. All my linkage worked fine, except I had to shorten the rod from the bellcrank/z-bar to the clutch fork. I am running longtube flowtech headers so I can't help with the exhaust.
