2000 GMC E brake pic
everything was gone when i got the truck. i got the shoes and hardware and backing plates and now i need a pic to put them togeather

Removal Procedure
Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting. Remove the tire and the wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Wheels, Tires and Alignment. Remove the caliper and mounting bracket as an assembly. Refer to Brake Pads Replacement. Relieve the tension on the park brake cables by loosening the nut at the equalizer. Remove the parking brake cable from the lever. Remove the rotor. Refer to Brake Rotor Replacement. Remove the axle shaft. Refer to Axle Shaft Replacement (8 1/2, 9 1/2 Ring Gear) or Axle Shaft Replacement (10 1/2 Ring Gear) in Drive Axles, Bearings and Joints. Turn the adjustment screw (1) to the fully home position in the notched adjustment nut. Remove the park brake shoe assembly by sliding the shoe (2) towards the retaining spring (3) until the shoe disengages from the spring.

INStallation
Clean the debris and the dust from the park brake components using a clean towel. Align the slots in both the adjusting screw and tappet to be parallel with the backing plate face. Position the park brake shoe on the inboard side of the actuator. Slide the parking brake shoe into position and seat into the retaining spring. Inspect the shoe assembly position. The shoe must be central on the backing plate with both tips located in the slots. Adjust the park brake shoe. Refer to Park Brake Shoe Adjustment. Install the axle shaft. Refer to Axle Shaft Replacement (8 1/2, 9 1/2 Ring Gear) or Axle Shaft Replacement (10 1/2 Ring Gear) in Drive Axles, Bearings and Joints. Install the rotor. Refer to Brake Rotor Replacement. Install the park brake cable to the park brake lever. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions. Tighten the nut to the intermediate cable at the equalizer. Tighten the nut to 3.5 N.m (31 lb in) . Install the caliper and mounting bracket as an assembly. Refer to Brake Pads Replacement. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Wheels, Tires and Alignment. Remove the safety stands. Lower the vehicle, Adjust parking brake cable. Refer to Park Brake Lever Adjustment

I had to do this when I bought my 01 hoe, and it is a pain. Do yourself a favor and change out the axle seals while you have the axles out. Check out your axle bearings while the seals are out too.

Also forgot to mention check the inside of the rotor (drum for ebrake) to see if it is worn. The reason I had to change mine was because the PO must have driven with the ebrake on because the rotor was warped, the drum was shot and the shoe was down to metal on one side.

i do these all the time at work. you dont need to remove the axle. just pop the 2 clips off and pull it off the adjuster and it can be taken out around the axle at the right angle
