Saw this one for sale today...and guessing it will be there awhile...

Passed this one at a little hot rod/restoration shop today. Of course I had to stop and take a look. It's not a restoration, just in good original condition. 90K miles, "dirty" undercarrige (just like any other non-show truck/car driving down the road, not filthy or anything), couple little dings here and there on the aluminum trim, but a damn good looking truck. Isn't the price pretty high though?? I mean, it's a nice truck, but $22K?? Admittedly I'm pretty new to these trucks, but it just seemed a touch out of line with what I've seen around. I'd think that was more of a frame-off resto price.

I'd love to find one like that...before a guy like that did.It seems a good $10,000 high.I see original and still nice trucks go for around $7,000.Maybe not as clean, but way far away from $22,000.It may have been gone through and completely serviced to top running condition/nothing to leak/etc...things that don't cancel out the "original" status. But,that's still way high.

Not a chance in the world it'll sell for $22k. 7k or 8k, maybe.

If it's a true 71 SWB Super Cheyenne, it's kind of a rare bird....check out the SPID inside the glovebox door....I'm w/ special K....maybe a $12-$14k truck, but would really like to know when/if it was painted and what kinda of body work has been done?!?!?

That truck looks really good for being original, I wouldn't put it up for sale at 8, maybe 15 but an original in that condition isn't very common. As for dirty undercarriage, that is small potatoes considering what most of us are working on. The original paint isn't even faded. Though I could be wrong, and I am thinking Canadian availability and dollar values.

If someone can find a rust free SWB truck for $7-8K, let me know where. I still see rust buckets for $4-5K here in NJ.

If you guys can buy a truck like that for under 14k please direct me too it. I don't think its worth 22k, but have to call BS on these low ball prices.

Well Heck yes it's worth it ..LOL but maybe I am a little bias towards trucks that look like mine.. Original is what caught my eye and there just maybe some one out there that would buy it at that price,,but I doubt in Texas as plentiful as these trucks are ,,more like north eastern states..

Re: Saw this one for sale today...and guessing it will be there awhile...

My truck is the same but a little cleaner and I would put it for sale today at $13K, expecting to get somewhere around $12K. It's NOT for sale by the way but that's my fair market value opinion. That is a nice truck but being un-restored or just painted, not sure but i wouldn't pay over $10K.

You gotta remember that we are better informed and have more resources and connections than Joe Grandpa driving by (or probably the seller). If I wanted another one just like that I would be able to find 6 or 7 to chose from within a few weeks. Joe Grandpa might not have seen one in 5 years and thinks he'll offer $16K...and go home with a good deal (to him). The internet has opened a whole other world for some of us, while the rest still cruise the 2 line classifieds in the paper and go by word-of-mouth which is an entirely different market.

My 72 Cheyenne doesn't have a cargo light either...I've wondered about that.

By the way, when I referred to the "dirty" undercarriage, I didn't mean that as a slight. I just meant it doesn't have a painted frame and suspension and all that, it just looks like....well, anything that's been driven awhile. And I don't think this one has been repainted from what it looks like. Interior was in great shape too. The owner said it was original down to belts and hoses, but who knows.

Man, you guys are rough. I would also love to know where all these 7-8k trucks on the east coast that are this solid and look this good. I agree not 22k but somewhere in the middle seems reasonable.

The belts I dont know, but the hoses at least have been swapped out, there are no tower clamps on the top rad hose and the heater hose should be black ribbed hose, not red parts store replacement. Price is high for the truck, but it looks every bit of $10,000 to $15,000 if the documentation is there.

I thought the same thing about the red hose. I was wondering about that.

Re: Saw this one for sale today...and guessing it will be there awhile...

No doubt that this is a nice truck. None of use would turn this truck out of our driveway. But in the economy that we live in today with the dollar on the verge of collapse hardly anyone will be willing to shell out 22large for the truck. I have had to wholesale way to many trucks [and cars] this year, sometims not making what I need sometimes losing labor or parts and labor. I know this issue is different in that I deal in late models and we are talking old stuff, but I would think the old sstuff would be harder in a down economy. Jim

I would have to agree that its priced to high. Keep in mind that the longer it sits there the lower the price will go.

Too high for Texas. He would be better off taking it up North. My bro made $10k on a 71 Cheyenne Super he bought in Texas and sold in Virginia to a guy from Michigan.

I would also like to know where all these nice swbs are priced between 8 and 10 thousand are especially in Florida. If you are finding these trucks in that kind of shape for that price send me pics and info and i will give you finders fee, if they are everywhere for that price why is so many people cutting rust and frames to make swbs. I know 22 is high but who on here would take 8 for that truck if you had it. I havent ever seen one on this board that looked that good for that price

$5 or $6000 here, if you find the right person. The value seems to be a lot lower here for most trucks. There are dozens of 67-72's in this area. There was a body off restored that sold here for $5000 a couple of years ago. The kid had $11000 invested.

That might be taking it a little far...I agree that this is probably a $10K truck, or at least in that ballpark. But that's just my opinion.
