Destroy'd the Ignition trying to remove it

Well my painter destroyed my ignition trying to get it out. I seem to remember reading there was some part you cant order...????

Either way, know where I can buy a new ignition?

I need the trim ring, ignition cylinder, everything....

and WTF is the key to getting these out (for next time)???

Thanks!!

On a brighter note, I should have my truck back in MY garage by next weekend....(famous last words)

Just needs cleaned up and put back together....I CANT WAIT!!

The trick to removal is removing the lock cylinder before you remove the trim ring.

Re: Destroy'd the Ignition trying to remove it

ahhh that would of been nice to know. I know I spun and spun the ring, so I probably screwed it up before he broke it completely.

Any idea where I can get the whole setup? Can really ask the yahoos at LMC any questions.

Contact Lock Doc (Leon). He's the resident "go to" guy when it comes to all things lock.

Truck is looking good from what i see.
Use a paper clip in the small hole to remove the cylinder and then it should all come apart. Eric

Almost. You need to have the correct key for the lock. Using the key, turn the cylinder all the way to the left. Insert the paper clip in the hole, push in against the spring tension, and hold it in. Turn the key slightly farther left and the cylinder will come out.

Re: Destroy'd the Ignition trying to remove it

That sucks but you can get an ignition lock cylinder through the local NAPA store.
http://www.napaonline.com/Search/Res...+50014+2014024
They show two plus the switch if you need it. The good Echlin cylinder and two keys is under 15.00 or should be.
If he screwed up the bezel you will have to order that through what ever vendor you like to deal with as they all have them. There is also a bezel wrench on Ebay that makes things a lot easier.

or

That vendors home web page. http://www.custommachinecomponents.c...p%3B+GMC+Truck Stuff worth checking out there to make working on our trucks easier.
