Inline 6 complete!!!!!!

I just finished installing my rebuilt inline 250 in my 69 C10. I put in Clifford Performance headers and intake. And on top a four barrel eddelbrock carb. Man it looks sweet. I will take it to the exhaust shop this week to get dual flowmasters with an x cross over. Right now it sounds like a NASCAR. Bout busted my eardrums. Will tune the carb and adjust the brakes tomorrow and then take it for a spin.Name: IMG_1628.jpg

Re: Inline 6 complete!!!!!!

I got them online from Clifford Performance. They specialize in inline 6's. www.cliffordperformance.com. Larry is the main guy. The only problem I had was it took almost weeks to get them. They just switched machine shops and they were behind. The did communicate well with me.

The total cost was $900 with shipping. That includes dual shorty hearders, 4 barrel intake, gasket and 4 barrel carb adapter. The headers come gray so I painted it black.

It looks hot!!!!!!

Most excellent. Need a pic of the distributor side of the engine.

What did you paint the engine with?

That turned out nice.

I've been wanting to find me a 6-banger truck to fix as a driver. I got a few ideas I'd like to try.

Nice looking 250! I'm doin' basically the same thing with a bit of a cam for my '56 3105.

I put almost 300k on a stock one before I sold the truck RUNNING!

Keep it up!

Man, today sucked!!!!!! I blew the oil pan gasket..........apparently you are not supposed to use rtv on cork gaskets. I thought I was doing a good thing but I was very wrong. Then the ,barely 3 month old, alternator went out. Then the brakes weren't working. I put in a brake booster, but I didn't adjust the connect rod long enough. And I need to adjust the valves. I miss read on the proper way.

So I consulted with a real mechanic today and he schooled me and I took lots of notes.

This site and it's members have helped me all the way through this process and to all I say thanks.

Re: Inline 6 complete!!!!!!

Nice!!! Only thing I'd change would be the line off your pcv. I use a 90* one on mine with a hard line down to my carb. Just cleans it up a bit. You could use a piece of braided line also instead of the black one. Here's a pic of mine. I'm gonna rebend it to hug the cover better though.
You don't need cork for your pan. They make them in rubber too!!

Re: Inline 6 complete!!!!!!

That's a sweet looking setup. I always liked the six-bangers. I can't tell from the picture but it looks like you have a serious kink in the top radiator hose. It may cause over heat problems.
If you have to get a new alternator and you have the old stock external regulator you should get a new SI style with the regulator inside and convert the wiring over. It's really simple to do and the alternator is a bolt-on. It gives you twice the amps and makes the lights and other accessories work much better. VV

Re: Inline 6 complete!!!!!!

Sonicman,
I love it! What transmission is behind it? What was done in the rebuild, and what did it cost? I'm a six fan too. I have one in my truck and am considering a swap of the 3 speed to a TH350.

Re: Inline 6 complete!!!!!!

There's no kink in the hose, just looks that way in the pic. Thanks for noticing. I replaced the pistons, push rods and loggers. Also had the head rebuilt with all new parts and cleaned. Head work was $400 and probably $300 the engine. I actually haven't run the numbers. I'ld rather not know.

Re: Inline 6 complete!!!!!!

Awesome man! What booster did you use? I'm sitting beside my truck right now trying to figure out why my power brakes won't fit. The booster hits the carb... Not by a lot but just enough to not be able to install it.

Re: Inline 6 complete!!!!!!

Has anyone ever hand built an intake and headers for a 250 i6? just wondering. seems like it would be something that could be accomplished. If anyone one has done it could that person post some pictures??
