Re: A few pics of my 48

Thanks for the replys. I am 72 & this might be my last build. Here are a few specs :

chopped 3 1/2"
cab extended thru the doors 3"
drip rails removed
highly modified 96 bed w/caddy fins
head lights antenna gauges frenched
350/700r4/9"
running boards 3 longer
butted windshield
all vents welded shut(now that might of been a mistake)

By far the best feature is the 3" extended cab. Very comfortable
compared to stk

Don't count yourself out yet. I know plenty of people in their 80's who are very active. Keeping busy keeps you healthy, and it looks like you've been busy. Good job.

Re: A few pics of my 48

My Dad is 84. He deteriorated quite a bit over the last 10 years. Some of it was his dementia setting in (probably the last 5 years). But in 1998 he lost his land and big shop where he went over to tinker almost every day working on some new found rig. The County condemed the land for a new fire training facility, he was the last hold out. He never got around to replacing the shop, all his tools and stuff have been stored in two 40' storage containers. After that he just started sitting around and generally lost interest and motivation. I truly believe that if he had replaced the shop and stayed active he would not be in as bad of shape as he is.

You will get slower and may need help with some of the heavy lifting, etc. but if you enjoy it stay at it. Studies show that physical and mental activity (tv, video games and the internet do not count) keep you sharp and from rusting up.

A couple of years ago we buried a 92 year old local guy in the same profession as me (architect), he was actively practicing up until the last 9 months. I was one of the people he would call when he had an ocassional brain fart and to check over his work to make sure he hadn't missed anything. He was all there until the very end, his heart eventually just gave out.
