275R55-17 on all 4's

Has anyone used this wheel/tire set up?

Front wheels 17x8 w/ 4"BS with 275/55-17
Rear wheels 17x9.5 w/ 5" /BS with 275/55-17

Most people use 255/(55 or 50)-17 for the fronts, but I am having a really
hard time finding matching sets with the 255/275 combination. The overall
width of the 255/275 tires has only a 3/4" difference 275 (10.82") and 255 (10.04"). I figure that with the offset of the 8" wheel I can compensate for the wider tire at the front.

I can get a good price locally for the 275/55-17 on Toyo ST ii, and before I buy them I will like to know if there will be a fitment issue at the front.

Any ideas or suggestions?

The only tire you will find with a matching 255 is in a Pirelli Scorpion Assimetrico.

You can run a 275 all around with little to no clearance issues. If you read the other thread about 17x8 wheels, member JCA1972 is running 275/60/17's on all corners with no issues.

The only problem you may have will be in how much your truck is lowered.

Re: 275R55-17 on all 4's

I just had to replace the tires on my 2001 Silverado and I run the 255/50 r17 front on a
8" wide wheel and 275/50 r17 on 9.5" wide wheel in the rear. The only matching front and rear set I could find was the Nitto 450. I have gone through a couple of sets on my truck and have been averaging 45 to 50 thousand miles on them. They seem to be a fairly decent tire that isn't too expensive.

Re: 275R55-17 on all 4's

I put a set of Falken tires on my 1990. The S/T Z01 comes in a 255/50 and 275/50 which I was running on 17x8's front and back. I was really happy with them. If you can still find them, I have Yokahama Advan S/T's on my '70 and they are exceptional. I am running 255/50's up front and 275/55's on 17x8's and 17x9.5" rims.
