Rare (?) 70 CST on Ebay

Supposedly a factory 396/4-speed with A/C and buckets. Seems pretty rare to me; I just wonder how many of you guys have seen one optioned like this before.

Nice! Looks fairly correct yet. Not sure about the rare term, but definately uncommon.

Don't know if that's rare though...

Re: Rare (?) 70 CST on Ebay

Extremely rare and extremely desirable many times are interchangable, in this case I don't think they are. Here we have a rusty long bed with some desireable parts. Unfortunately this one is worth more in pieces than as a restorable truck.
His price isn't out of line though.
$250 for tilt
$500 for buckets
$1,000 for big block
$250 for AC parts and brackets
There's $2,000 and we haven't mentioned power brakes, power steering, and countless other parts.

Re: Rare (?) 70 CST on Ebay

I don't think it has tilt, but the NOS rockers would make up for that... Probably still uncommon enough to be restored by the right guy. If it was a shorty, it would be bid up there already!

Uncommon for sure. Rare, yea, but that doesn't mean is worth restoring. I would part that sucker out for sure.

I can't believe the prices these trucks bring. I like my 70, but they don't have a lot of value here. They are just too numerous.

Re: Rare (?) 70 CST on Ebay

Man, I grew in PA. If someone is thinking of restoring it, They're going to
need a torch, And a case of PB Blaster, Just to get it apart. Also, Anything
exposed to the outside, Has had 40 yrs of salt blasting.

I'm with the part it out group!

Re: Rare (?) 70 CST on Ebay

I have to have this truck. I just bid on some retro valve covers on EBreak that would be nice on it. Never mind the big block/small block thing.

Remember 'em? What patina!!!!!

Re: Rare (?) 70 CST on Ebay

It is pretty rare to see a 4spd big block CST/10.Even more rare with bucket seats and a/c.Considering the original condition of the paint and interior I'd say the truck isn't that far gone. There's no bondo in it.People pay good money for trucks that bad with bondo and fresh paint. Many in areas like PA keep vehicles better than those in areas that take such care for granted due to lack of threat of rust.True,it has rustbut it's 40 years old.I've found virtually rust free trucks out of PA.Dime sized hole or basketball sized hole,it doesn't matter. Both require a panel replacement.Complete floors are available. It doesn't look too far gone to me.And,a darned nice example from 1970.

Re: Rare (?) 70 CST on Ebay

I agree with Special K. It is definately restorable, especially with how nicely optioned it is. Hopefully someone will buy it with intent to restore and not part.

Re: Rare (?) 70 CST on Ebay

It's been posted for a week or so on CL. He apparently thinks pretty highly of it to put a $4800 asking price on it.

That's actually the super-rare "floorboard delete." You had to special order it from the factory and then wait 40 years.
