Project JO-JO
Truck is a 62 chevy long box built came from the factory with 63 underpinnings up front.. Weird yes but better for me. Have about 3 years in it at this point and should have been done with it. But took about a year and half off with other things. SO back at at it. Basic over veiw 383 stroker, Tremec tko 600 trans, 85 front running gear, the rest well list is too long HA HA if you got a question ask me.

Re: Project JO-JO
Here are a few more of the truck coming apart along with the damage to the panels. Entire truck and frame where media blasted... I can say that I will never do a frame off again... Way too much work... HA HA

Will take a bunch more pics now that it is going to my new shop, Captin johns parts for the hyrdo boost.. my engine has less than 3 inchs of vaccum extremely stout running engine to say the least looking forward to adding the NOS once we get this complete.. At this point I am running the lines for the hyrdo boost, getting the new steering colum in , and will be running the AAW harness adding the Dakota Digital dash, pluming the new fuel system..

Re: Project JO-JO
Truck came out of CA I forget the plant but build date is in the may june area if I recall. I ran the frame and cab numbers all matching no marks that anyone converted it... I have found that the frame is alos wider than other 62 trucks by almost 1 inch.. I put the frame up on a frame machine as well as I thought maybe it was bent or pulled but it was extremely straight.. Truck was a factory 283 truck with hyrdo clutch, Parts have been tough at times to get the right stuff it really seems to be a mix of 62-63 stuff, cab mounts rad mounts things like that... I have sent plenty of parts back and had to modify many as well.. CCP sent me a adjust track arm not even close I had to add 1.125 inches to it to allow any adjustment that may have to be re done as well.. I need to get my new 17 inch steelies on it and set the box back on to get ride height and re check where the rear end is sitting at..

Re: Project JO-JO
Are there four under hood strut braces instead of two? I have never seen that before.
Greg.

Re: Project JO-JO
HA HA winner winner chicken dinner!!!!! I was wondering how long it would take for someone to see that. I added the two extra ones from a donor hood. The stock hoods coke can very badly thus I added two more braces.

Re: Project JO-JO
Intersting idea. I haven't experienced that issue, but I can see why you would do it.
It looks factory. Greg.

Re: Project JO-JO
running the line kit for the hyrdo boost, as well had to move the truck into our new house.. Was not fun to move all of these parts. Loading and unloading a truck with no brakes moving the front tires by hand etc.. But no damage on the move and moving forward.. The brackets you see for the hydro boost are from captin fab. The hyrdo boost came out of a astro fan and bolted up without issue.

Re: Project JO-JO
I will be moving them around a bit, they are long at this point and I have to machine up some billet hold downs for the lines. But I wanted to keep them well away from the headers as the lines are a true aircraft hyd line that has a teflon liner with heavy SS braid over the top. Line kit is from Gottashow company here in AZ. Nice set up really.
Here are my new 17inch tires waiting on the rims from stockton at this point. 245/40/17 front and 275/45/17 rear. |

Re: Project JO-JO
Well got the rest of the lines cut and fitted last night and the set up is done, just have to decide how to secure the lines but will wait on that until I get the inner fenders installed. My fingers are full of holes from the braided line.
Ordered up the new steering wheel as well hope it looks good in the truck was a bit pricey. Did the wrap in dark grey .. |

Re: Project JO-JO
Installed my CCP front sway bar this weekend, not much else really. I did order up a new aluminum rad for the truck, the stocker has been repaired a few times , still worked great but thought since I am doing everything else a new one would be in order. Being that the stocker is 48 years old... time to replace it. I bought one from champion Radiator.. Should be a easy swap.

Re: Project JO-JO
Well mocked up my new IDIDIT last night and it was a simple bolt in project..
My wife happy to see the trucking coming together I am going to leave the brush look alone I think and clear it with a semi gloss clear. I have to admit I did sit behind the wheel and make a few vroom vroom sounds.. So how does it look?? Last edited by GMR-PERFORMANCE; 12-08-2010 at 12:20 PM. |

Re: Project JO-JO
For some reason that 'power' stuff is higher on the priority list for them vs. us.

Re: Project JO-JO
I posted up on this in another post the column is a bolt in ..however you must get the newer version same part number though... The first one I got had not mounting holes at all, they want you to use self tapping screws and really I did not feel that to be stong enough... so I sent it back they swapped it for the newer version. This one has slots in it and a heavy backer that has threaded inserts in another bracket inside the column and it will slide as well. Took me about 20 minutes to slot the holes in my OEM bracket and bolt it in as you see it in the picture.

Re: Project JO-JO
Well the brown truck dropped off more parts
I has some issues with the engine laying down at high rpm so a 170 GPH pump -10 feed line from tank to pump, -8 from pump to reg this should solve those issues. -10 line for those that are not up on the an fitting is close to 5/8 This is the champion rad I ordered up and it is so scloe to the stock fitment I am shocked.. With a money back if no fit or does not cool ..to boot.. It will cool just fine, as my stocker did decent. |
