53 One Ton Rear Axle
I have a 53 Panel that has the one ton rear axle under it. I'm changing it to a Monte rear so this one's no good to me.
Does anyone know of another use for it, so I can advertise it as a more "useful" piece?

Re: 53 One Ton Rear Axle
The GM one ton rear is usually designated H072. It was used in basically the same form from 1946 to 1972. The center section will definitely swap over this range of years, although the complete housing may not, because of differences like spring centers and brakes. Your ratio is probably 5.14, but don't sell it as such unless you confirm this yourself by doing the following:
Jack one rear wheel off the ground, put the transmission in neutral, and the parking brake off. Put matching marks on the pinion yoke and differential housing. Turn the wheel exactly TWO revolutions and count how many times the driveshaft turns, estimating any fractional turn as closely as possible. That number is your axle ratio. Ray
