Fitting a long bed floor into a short wide???
Help. We are trying to do a 71 short wide, but the bed floor is trashed. Have a 71 long wide with a really good floor. Any suggestions?? What about replacing a metal floor with a wooden one??? Come on guys, I am open to suggestions/advice here. The bed situation has just taken the wind out of the build. Thanks, Fred.

well you could always make it a wood floor that would be easyer or you could nicely cut all the sills off and cut in front and in back of the wheel opening and trim it down and weld it then weld all the sills on the bottom so it is your chioce

Did not even think about the sills... I may call LMC and see what they have on a wooden floor conversion kit. Thanks, Fred.

Re: Fitting a long bed floor into a short wide???
I shortened my longbed floor and it was VERY simple. If you cut in the correct locations there is no need to move the crossmembers. I have a picture but it wont give me the option to upload right now. If you want more details PM me ur email and ill send you a couple pics and some details.

DONT spend the money on a wood floor. The metal LB floor is easliy converted. PM me your e-mail and ill give you my number and explain it. If u got a welder and cut off wheel it can be done in two evenings.

Have you considered a company like Mar-K for bed parts?

Re: Fitting a long bed floor into a short wide???
Stay away from the lmc wood. I used material that came from mar-k and after nearly 9 years have had no problems. LMC is just a resale outlet, you will do better with mar-k. As far as cutting the floor, I have no experience, but a wood conversion is very reasonable if you are having to pay for body work or time is a constraint. You should be able to get into "wood" for $1500.
