AFAIK, that is a V-6 only part. Your best bet might be to have your present unit rebuilt. I have used these guys before and liked them. They are an old-timey outfit just like you remember from when you were a kid.

Re: Need info on a 305 v-6 starter

I had mine rebuilt for around 70 bucks. Works great. Looks brand new.
They said it was in such bad shape that it should have cost more but they stuck to thier quote. All with a 7 year waranty.

I went to NAPA and got a new one for $65.00 back 3 years ago, they still stock them, take the old one with you and trade it in too for the core deposit. If you need help I'll get them number next week.

Re: Need info on a 305 v-6 starter

A lot of the parts stores still have a lot of mechanical pieces in their systems for our old trucks.

starters, water pumps, rebuild kits for brakes/carbs... brake shoes, etc..

They also have some of the under hood electrical doodads like voltage regulators.

The trick is finding it in their system.

Make sure you post the new number, I'll get it to Jolly or you can so he can paste it on his "Known Good Numbers" page.
