check engine light
i have a 91 1500 with a 350. the other day i was driving and the light cam on and a few miles down the road it went off. it has done that for a few days now. well now the light is always on and the truck idles up real high and when i slow down to stop it down shifts really hard. does anyone know what this could be? i was thinkin it might be the tps but im not 100% sure and dont have alot of money to waste on tryin different sensors. thanks for the help in advance.

Re: check engine light
Check to see what trouble code or codes are in memory of the computer.
Here are some web sites with the basics on retrieving codes, on OBD1 systems, without a scan tool or code reader. Poor drawing of ALDL but ok instruction + codes http://www.cfm-tech.com/gm_tbi_trouble_codes.htm OBDI terminal identification http://robertpowersmotorsports.frees.../ALDL_plug.jpg OBDI illustration and instructions http://www.troublecodes.net/GM/ Good explanation http://www.syty.org/old/d&e.html
