center bearing yoke bolt Torque?

I've just put on a new Spicer center bearing and would like to know what torque
the bolt should be?

For the record I eliminated the dust-shields because one would rub on the rubber on the center bearing.
I was thinking it could melt the rubber, so a quick search here suggested these aren't all that necessary with the sealed bearings of today's center bearings.

Re: center bearing yoke bolt Torque?

put the yoke back on exactly like it came off, you did mark it.. Right. At least put it bak in time if ou didn't mark it 50-50 shot at being right. Use some locktight and get it about as tight as you can with just a wrench. Be sure when you put the joint in that the rear shaft is timed the way it as when it was ballanced last. You may want to weld in some bracing on that carrier bearing bracket. These carrier bearings have a bad habit of premature failure if the drieshafts haven't been properly ballanced.

I marked everything after I removed the bolt I scribed a mark to get the yoke on the same spline too.
The carrier bearing looks pretty decent, it has the normal spot welds plus it's welded down the sides- maybe after several complaints about them breaking?.

I'll just used the recommended torque for a 1/2-20 bolt and will call it good.

Re: center bearing yoke bolt Torque?

nice, I haven't seen any with the welds on the sides yet. We usually put a brace on both sides also. Sounds like you did good.
