68 swb keep or sell?
I have my 1968 swb im thinking about getting rid of to buy a 51 chevy truck? i have lost interest after getting burned by the body shop. everything is powder coated with new: 383 stroaker 559 whp, built th400 trans, billet converter, rolled dash, no rust, 22" intros, full air ride technologies in the box, posi, flaming river tilt, rebuilt dash: tach, vacuum, speed warning, buddy bucket in leather with door panels to match, i piece windows, shaved fire wall etc. just no motivation for this project. what do you guys think i should do?

NICE TRUCK !! You will not get near your $ out of it, if you sell it unfinished. Im sure you already know that.

Re: 68 swb keep or sell?
You said you got burned by the body shop. Is the paint not finished? It looks like it just needs cut and buffed from the pics.

The cheapest way to have a truck restored is to buy it that way.....you just give up "personal in-put". Please don't turn this into a "For Sale" thread

Re: 68 swb keep or sell?
I gonna take flack for this but sell it . You know your gonna lose and you are prepared for that. You have money [worked hard for or easy gain] that is yours do with it that makes you happy. After feeding our families and providing for them we work to spend. If you want a 1st I say you would build a great one looking at what you have done to this one. Jim

Re: 68 swb keep or sell?
I know a lot of body shops get a bad rep, but find you a good reputable shop and have them finish it. I do a lot of after hour jobs and I think that would be an easy fix if the foundation is good.

Re: 68 swb keep or sell?
I think guys like me, that are right in the middle of a build and still excited about it, when we look at pics of your beautiful truck,
will ALL say "You crazy?" "Keep it!". But most of us have come to the point on one build or another that we stagnate. For one reason or another. I've gotten there several times on the '68/'71 build this time around. When I do, I just pull up the Forum. That always seems to start a fire under me again. Of course, jonesing for something else is a natural thing. But, for me, finishing a project is a real high("finishing" is really a misnomer...you really only reach the "I'm driving it and tinkering/changing stuff as as I drive her" stage) . The reward for finishing is especially tasty when you are cruising down the road and get a thumbs up, or someone says something nice about your ride. Then, there's the money thing. To get anywhere near your cost back (forget the time), it has to be running down the road. Simple as that. But money's only money. If you want a different project, the money doesn't always count. I've been in that place/ But being retired now, I have to watch the $$$$$$$. 'Cause it's all going out and none coming in. Please note that you must be a supporting member to post classified items. Re: 68 swb keep or sell?
I feel you. My project truck has been in the paint shop for 16 months and I've had problems at every shop its been to. I plan on selling mine after I finish it, just to be able to say I finished it. I figure I'll lose about the same if I finish it or not, but it should be easier to sell finished. I also have my eye on a new project (69 camaro RS) and have purchased a few toys since I started my current one 6yrs ago. Good luck and remember this is suppose to be fun!!

Re: 68 swb keep or sell?
6 months ago you were looking for motivation to finish this truck: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=400433
Since you have not done anything to it since then, I would sell it and move on to something else.

Re: 68 swb keep or sell?
Sorry about your problem with paint jail. I would recommend that you really take a look at what you have there. Its a fuggin fantastic truck!! we all get to this point sometimes on a restoration. There is noway I would ever let that truck go! My dad used to say think about it for a solid week pros and cons after that week you will know what to do! My hope is that your truck does not turn into the one that got away!! best of luck to you my friend, cheers, Pat
